It's like t cutting a faded red car... No change, no change. Too late😂😂😂

I've filed the chipped edge flat, then filed a edge on it. The flap disc is pretty goof for reprofiling, but I don't want to go mad mad.

I've got a dmt dianond file.somwhere.
Without having it in hand it’s hard to say but you should be able to get pretty close with the flap disk. Mouse mat on a bit of batten and various wet n dry to neaten it up to a cracking convex.

I haven’t sharpened mine in years and it has fairly frequent use. it still snicker snacks through branches nicely. I have a finer edge at the hook going down to a lumpier splitting edge at the handle.

Problem is its a chisel grind. Its like you've only sharpened half of it.

It'll need a lot of work to get an even edge

Yep, I think it is too.
A scythe is sharpened like that, well flat on the soil side.

A billhook isn't that hard an edge, it's meant to be fairly unchippable, so it's pretty easy to true it up as needed.
In general it's not a mucking about tool though, it's a hedging/pruning/taking out withies sort of tool.
If he's going to use it to break up firewood.....maybe a wee froe would be better ?

Knighton is the straighter one. Feels light in the hand. Can't recall where I got mine but it is this Morris, and they had loads in stock

Snap. Have the same one. Bought from the Old Tool Store. Nice in the hand.
