I don't know if this counts as a recipe as it was a complete accident. Yesterday, I put some strawberries and plums in a pot covered them with water, added some sugar and stewed them for a hour. The water reduced considerably, but it being late at night by then, I kind of forgot about them after I turned off the stove.

Today at about noon I put a slow roast on (it is 4.30 now). Forgetting the stewed plums/strawberries were there in the pot still, the fruit got an extra four hours to cook a bit more just in the heat from the oven. A minute ago, I lifted the lid on the pot and ate one of the plums. The smell was lovely, but the taste was completely sublime. This is going to happen again! :)

FYI - The roast is pork shoulder again (I love it and it so cheap) rubbed in maple syrup, smoked paprika, garlic and dried cherries
