I emailed Rotring telling them I'd crushed the cap on my 600, seems they don't do spares for it so they just sent me a new mechanical pencil, incredible really.

Also have you ever read The Times? It has such headlines as "Rwanda bill spreads dread in Calais camps".

Excellent behaviour

Ever tried an 800, El?

Keep thinking to get one, but can't quite get there without trying one in-hand.

The Times became just a large-format tabloid when Murdoch bought it.
Flick da bean propaganda said she is working hard to improve the quality of our river water.:scared: The reality is the bitch has voted 3 times AGAINST the amendment that would prevent Southern water empying shit into chalk streams. She doesn't think plebs would bother to check the facts.

Couple of 50g bottles of superglue.
I've not had much luck with epoxy glue recently, bought 3 mixer tubes off amazon and two of them had the hardener solid inside, trying to get them sent back but the post office keeps not turning up to collect them. Ordered different replacements and they turn out to be coming from middle Europe somewhere and are stuck in customs. (

They no longer bother to hide their contempt for us plebs as they know they're going to be voted out, they have robbed us of £billions, and we have no redress.

Yes, I got an 800 in 0.5mm on an Amazon deal, but it wasn't great, couple that with the shoddy printing and suspect price I returned it under the suspicion it was a fake. I've been looking at them on Cult Pens, they'll do the 0.5mm and a ballpoint for £100 but I dunno if the niceties of them warrant the price. If that Amazon one was as good as they get then it'd certainly be a disappointment.

That and I enjoy the patina on my 600s, in an 800 it might sting 😅

You may have noticed that my opinions do not exactly align with those of your typical Murdoch reader. I despise him. But having had a subscription virtually free to the website (I think it’s around £1.50 a month, if that) with my Amex, I must admit that I rather enjoy it.
I find it much more balanced (politically) than I expected, and there is unquestionably quality journos working there.
I also used to read the Guardian but on the same topic I usually found the Times more balanced. Add to that, the Guardian tried to tell me that while paying the same price as a direct subscription, the fact I had taken it from the Apple Store meant I couldn’t share it with my wife meant I told them to roll it carefully and shove it where the sun never shine.

Update on the epoxy glue, Amazon have emailed to say the seller has refunded me as they cancelled the order. I wonder what it is that's stuck in the post then?
I had the same with a Ryobi tool bag. One minute it was in the post from Amazon, then I was told I had returned it - I hadn't, but I got a refund so it doesn't matter too much.

Today I received a Tops Knives catalog. I didn't realise their range was so extensive.

Sadly, this failed to prevent me pressing Pay Now. Thanks though.

Hm ... can't quite see from the photos. The text definitely isn't straight, but is the print cleaner on the top 600 than the 800?

Where there any other flaws worth drawing notice to? Construction, function, finish, weight etc?

Bit late to be asking, I suppose
:)

Reason I have been asking is I have been watching my eldest use the handwriting function on his iPad ... I am pretty envious of it. I might even learn the technical terminology.

The stylus option is what has caught my attention partly. This distracted me to the extent that I ordered a black 800 0.5mm .... on balance, I more often use a 0.7mm, 2H.

Ah well. Wonder how I will fix that. I will find out when it arrives on Friday, I guess. :fp:

Can mother not draw?

It is easier to shape the point on a .7, is the point and to exploit the waxier effects

But, otherwise, yes. Mother is right.

I had one of the Kuro Toga pencils for a while, it was excellent; a mechanical pencil that had a rotary clutch in it that rotated the lead every time you pressed it down. The upshot being instead of wearing into a chisel point it maintained a uniform cone. I really ought to buy another, mine went walkabout at work.

I have a few of those Staedtler Mars Technicos at hand. They are called lead holders rather than pencils. The leads I use are about the same dia as spaghetti, and as thick as if not thicker than regular wood pencil leads.

A colleague gave me some Blackwing pencils the other day. They feel good to use.

In France we had Criterium, created in 1939 and that belongs to BIC since 1983. It is eponymous in French to an automatic pencil, such was its ubiquity. I probably still have a few, somewhere...
They were not initially known for the finer diameters (they had o.5mm in the 70s I believe): they were mostly a pencil lead in a protective reusable sheath. They also expanded into the ballpoint market, using the same design that made them famous with the crenelated grip (not too comfortable to start with for little hands...)

I have one of those. I didn't know it was French. It's a sort of, well the colour of the background of that advert, beige/gold metal.
You're right; it's not that comfortable to use for long, but see if your hands are frozen ? it's easy to grip :)
