Any opinions?
Vaguely considering one as a backstage working knife.
Needs to be:
Robust.
Locking - safe to lend to non-knifey colleagues.
Not too big - 3" - 3.5"
One-hand opening *and* closing.
Sharp, with good edge retention.
Decent pocket clip.

Fixed blade not suitable.
I do have one of the Navy K631 Spyderco Police knockoffs which currently fills this role, but this falls down a bit on points 3-6. Definitely not a safe one-hand closer!

The WPK that is my current edc fits everything except #2 - definitely wouldn't lend a friction folder to an unsuspecting colleague!

It's a good choice but are they not hard to come by / overpriced?

The pocket clip gets a decent bite but at the trade-off of being a bit snaggy, but I guess that's the side you want it to fall onto.

Easy enough to get hold of, but the price is giving me pause...

Hmmmm...

The Ganzo G720 looks worth a a punt - maybe a bit on the large side, and 440C blunts faster than some, but ticks all the other boxes plus it's a third of the price.

I’m pretty sure I used to have a g720. A brute of a knife - check the blade thickness. Very solid!!

That looks huge.

Mini grips were always popular, I doubt you can go wrong if you don't mind spending the money.

The compression lock is great for one hand operation. Lil Native, Shaman or Para 3 perhaps?

Ganzo are decent, for the money unbeatable, but they're always heavy and a bit rough?

Seems the Ritter is ~£125 which is sort of the going rate for these things these days?

I love the look of the Benchmade Bugout but I can't get past the price. In my head it's still the BB days where a decent knife is £80.

I have a few Ganzo knives and the steel on all of them is not great for edge retention.

Seems ok on the ones I still have.

The other knife I remember but don’t know the model number of was a San Ren Mu that had metal handles with a swoopy blade and handle. I changed the blade shape on a couple and eventually sold them on but shouldn’t have.

Well, I've plumped for the G720 - not too spendy for a beater that will spend most of its life in a tool bag, plus I won't mind lending it.
Always very reluctant to lend a decent knife after lending one to a colleague on site who promptly started cutting plasterboard with it :O
A mistake I've only made the once...
If it turns out to be rubbish quickly, it can go back and I'll have another look at the Griptilian.

The Persistence/Tenacious has a faithful following ... and probably can cut plasterboard judging by reviews

You'll have to remind me, I am not likely to be back in the UK before December. I am certain I have one though, I can picture it in the draw.

I need to be a bit ruthless with all that gear really.

I love my mini grip. It's my go to "house rough use" knife.
Easy to open and close, tough to sharpen though. I'd guess I got it of BB...£35 posted and PayPal 🤣🤣🤣

I think Martyn showed me it would flick open on a bborc years ago.

I bought a full size griptillian but found it a little bulky and tacticool looking for work. I had a fake bugout which was great size/weight wise and would snap up a real one if i saw one for a good price.
Ultimately settled on a bright orange Delica 4. Big and comfy enough without being bulky or heavy and the orange helps me avoid losing it and is a bit friendlier for the sheeple (though most people in the warehouse have stanley knives or auto retracting safety knives).

I snagged an orange Delica 4 from someone on BushcraftUK for £45 a few years ago. Brilliant thing it is, prompted me to look at the Endura recently, but as mentioned, prices are getting ridiculous for recognised manufacturer knives.

I love my little Civivi, that would be an option if the Ganzo doesn’t fit the bill.

Sorry mate, it’s a Civivi Baby Banter. It is also a tidy little knife. Misunderstanding. ;)

It’s a liner lock with ball detent to hold it shut but nothing to hold it open bar the choil.

With a redesign it could be slotted into the UK legal category, but I don’t see Civivi doing it.
