Some kind soul has passed on their germs and I've developed a bit of a temperature, a cough and exploding sinuses. Had a face to face get together with some of the faithful the other evening as part of a course we are running, so I'm guessing one of them is to blame. Coincidentally, the dog has also come down with a cough and is not right either, so we both spent a good part of the day avoiding Herself and generally feeling sorry for each other on my bed and having synchronised coughing spasms.

Next doors son is selling his mountain bike. Nothing special but ideal for me to potter on the canal. I saw one exactly the same on eBay for £270 . I asked how much he wanted and they said £20 but if you want it you can have it for nowt as you do plenty for us. Winner, but my wife can't stop laughing. She knows what I'll be like after the first ride. Fucked for a fortnight probably.

I used to do a lot of mountain biking years ago. Stopped due to spine problems but I really need to lose some weight and get a bit fitter. Poddling on the canal seems a good way to get started. We'll see. Might be selling a carrera vengeance soon.

Right, on holiday again. I think this is our sixth of the year (does Laura have a brain problem?), fortunately it's only a mile from our house so no real bother. There's a fire pit and a wood fired "hot-tub" (a bath) in the garden, I've grossly misjudged them and brought enough firewood to last a week. Moot point as it's chucking it down right now.

Trying to get the wood fired outdoor bath up to temperature, you ever tried to get a fire going inside a heat exchanger? It's not easy.
At one point my mind turned to how I could get some diesel out of her car. The rain interrupted it and I had to rig a canopy.

I had none!
In the end I found the Petromax and dumped a loaf of paraffin over it, fair did the trick. We got in when it was a bit cool and with all the water displaced it heated up quick. At one point I filled a beer can from the bath and dumped it over the fire to calm it down!
Of course, Laura went in with her cossie on, all I had were my contact lenses.
