Such a shame that like other brands Barbour is now just foreign made fashion tatt.
I have a thirty-odd year old Border and Westmoreland that will last another thirty years, unlike any of the shite I’ve bought or examined in the last fifteen.
As for the original ethos being related to hunting, shooting or fishing, forget it, it’s about picnics and posing next to a Chelsea Tractor with sprayed on mud.

I used to wear Laura's, it had been missing for years and I enquired so out it came (having rewaxed it twice myself, I knew it existed). Seems that although it worked well enough, I'd forgotten the sleeves came up on me like a schoolboy's blazer.

I'm yet to buy one myself. Maybe once the Landy is on the road?

You can always get the arms extended on the jacket, I had that done on one of mine. My son has now blagged both of them. I bought them both back in 1987 so that is not bad going.

the beautiful south. but NOT on the island
I absolutely wore my Barbour to death. It had more worn out holes than a colinder so used it as a firelighter to start the Golden jubilee beacon for the last queen of england. They burn very well. I gave the repair kit to Kev with his fishing kit as it needed around a dozen kits to cover the holes and wasn't worth the effort.

Lovely to think of Kev sat on the riverbank waiting for a bite, darning his old Barbour ready for the autumn.
