So, do any of us here actually have a cat? I get the dog thread because a few of us have been sensible in our choice of companion, but there’s not one picture or anecdote about any of our cats.

Not my cats.

We can't have a cat as it would either die or badly injure the dogs. Not taking the risk.
See? That makes complete sense, you chose dogs instead, and you don’t want them injured by an unpredictable, pin-footed psycho bastard. Your reference to the cat dying was also as it should be, pretty glib and casual.

Currently dog sitting wifes bosses little spoilt princess. She's a lasso apso something or other. When she's here she's treat like a dog and seems a lot happier for it.

We are cat less due to my mother's age, they are a trip hazard. We do get garden visits but they don't want a stroke.

the beautiful south. but NOT on the island
I still have 3/4 of a siamese cat. She had a back leg amputated 15 years ago She has been called all sorts but more often fuck off cat due to her insistance on talking. She is officially called Jess as she is black and white like postman Pats cat. All 3 of my grandsons think its their cat as she is an attention ho. She actually waits for me to get in and sits on my lap to ruin my clothing or walk on my keyboard.

Me and the cats just went for a walk. I'd no sooner have put a leash on him or her than I would blindfold myself.

Tamsin, wondering why I'm dawdling.....

Lots of people here walk their cats. Leads, harnesses, the whole bit.

I can kind of understand that if you live in a city apartment.

I did not understand it when I lived in rural West Wales, but a couple who I knew at uni insisted on having a house cat and walking it.

We have had a few cats. But we just left the door open for them for to and fro. If we went out, we just shut the door and they had to wait outside and entertain themselves. Just, you know, be cats. They'd often sidle off for a couple of weeks themselves, esp. if people were leaving food out for them and thought they were strays.

For a while I thought house cat meant a particular breed, until I realized it just meant a cat that doesn't go out.

I do know that despite their vaunted agility and confidence, they do fall out of the windows of tall buildings more than is likely reported.
