I've started on these new logs, and I'm struggling to burn the bastards. I've split a few and checked the moisture content and it's through the roof!
Some were nearly passable but none were under 20%, the exact figure isn't certain as I don't fully trust this meter and it has four setting for various types of wood but I'm certain they're wet. It's from a reputable firm, they say they're barn dried and as signed up to Ready to Burn certification; this in itself has some complexity to it but Christ.
The cherry I seasoned myself was coming out closer to 14%, and it's like night and day in the fire.
I'm going to have to call the bastards in the morning and deal with this bullshit, but in the meantime I've a shed full of substandard wood that'll need removing, restacking, and drying for a sodding year 🤦♀️
