No, never posted any pics on rof, but have done so on bcuk when I paid for membership, which has lapsed, so I don't post pics there anymore, mind you, I've not tried since my last membership lapsed, as I assume that privilege has stopped.
I'd like to help out with the monies to get oot sorted, but don't do PayPal or any online monies. If you could let me know your address, I'll come and bother you... only joking, 😉I'd send you some cash for full membership here .
I'm not getting posting notifications on my Gmail, as I did with rof, so wondering if I've set that up right or something isn't working somewhere. 🤔

To set up email notifications go into your account. It’s in Preferences, tick the box.

Just letting you know I have made Marc an admin. Not so much to do the techy stuff which I am still getting my head around, but to help clear out the several hundred 0 post members and help with minor background stuff.

Also as a backup repository of all log ins and keys in case I get struck by lightning/abducted by Amazonians.

A quick update on whats been happening behind the scenes.

We (but mostly Marc) have deleted about 800 ghost accounts. These are all 0 post accounts and judging by their email addresses are spam or bot accounts. I have also blocked a number of domains from further registrations which hopefully will reduce the number of fake accounts being signed up. We will have another purge in a few months time when there are enough new accounts to look for email patterns.

Forum finances have been well boosted to £195, many thanks to all who donated. We will progress with the forum support contract with Xenforo and the site software upgrade in a couple of weeks time. We want to try and get as many bugs ironed out before we make changes. There have been a couple of issues of VIP accounts not updating and people being unable to send PMs. Once we are happy eveything has been sorted, then we will move forwards with the upgrades.

As always, please report issues, problems and ideas.

Elsewhere spammers are automatically referred to StopForumSpam. It's a free check, and I think it's a free thing to use too. No idea how they cover costs :dunno: but it makes it easy to check someone's isp agin the list.

The issue is that they are not spammers as they were all with 0 messages. But I'll have a look, thank you

Sorry Marc, I ought to have been clearer. I wasn't conflating the two, just suggesting another useful tool.
I find it stops repeat spammers, and since it provides a list of other users of that same isp or address it can help root out sleepers too.
The latter needs careful looking over, but it saves us a lot of hassle on occasion.

What I found over the last few days is that most accounts had a multiple word domain, one of these words being a Japanese word (more than 400 of the ones I dealt with). I guess there is now a system for generating random domains for email addresses that may defeat address-based spam checkers

Football jerseys. American football jerseys. Leon and I rooted out literally hundreds of sleepers using that in their accounts. Turns out to be a spammer in of all places Samoa

Hi all. Just some advance warning that at the end of the month VIP membership will increase to £12 per year. The original price was carried over from ROF and set over 10 years ago. Unfortunately costs have increased somewhat. Anyone who isnt a VIP member still has 2 weeks to uypgrade at the cheaper price. Thanks.
