You're hardy :)
Best of luck with it, and every good wish for decent weather too.

What was the name of those Scottish drivers who crisscrossed the country driving cattle or sheep when there was hardly any road?
Well, you’re one

I presume you mean drovers.

Och, it will be fun I'm sure. I will attempt to update as I go along but phone signal is bad over there.

I love events like this that have the tracking.

Had a friend cycle the tour divide quite some years back and it was great following along.

The website is good at covering the route (I assume it is the same or similar, this information is for 2022)

Looks absolutely mental. I hope it goes well.

I have a pretty much unused tub of Stupidly Simple smudge. (opened, smelled, closed and put away) If you think it's of use, I'll happily post it Northwards :)

Carrying the bagpipes has got to be a hindrance

I head up to FW today so I will stick with Smidge. That would be handy for general use M if you are happy to send ot up.

So out of interest, what sort of pace do you anticipate you’ll be doing?

4km an hour is impressive over more than 12 hours. At least you'll have daylight with you. How much weight are you carrying (other than your good self)?

As long as I can maintain 4km per hour that should work out. Planning to leave about 0730 in the morning.

Comfy on the flat that ... but is there a lot of steep? Two big old days, either way. Hope you get nice, mild and drizzly, overcast weather. Looks like a ton of fun.

They have said 3.5-4km/h taking into account the hills but you have to run (fast shuffle) when you can. I have been told to keep the speed day on day one (23 miles) and two (35 miles) to keep some energy for day 3 (42 miles). It is going to be tough.

I think my pack is about 3kg and that is mainly water and food which is bearable. I have trained with it loaded up over the past few months so I'm used to the weight.
