Pretty much all I've read about it.

Which reminds me, I've still not gotten round to watching The Pacific.

I am going to give Shogun a chance tonight.

Hoping it is a good beer and chilli series.

EDIT: OK, episode 1 has some values, though lacking a certain something that I can't quite articulate. I will persevere.

I heard about 'The Last Overland' over the weekend and found a copy to watch yesterday. You may have all seen it as I think it aired a few years a go.

In the 50s a group of students were the first to successfully drive from London to Singapore, in Series 1 Land Rovers. The BBC Filmed it and made it into a show 'The First Overland'. One of the vehicles was lost on a subsequent trip, the other ended up on Ascension Island rotting away, but was found and restored by someone.

A group, including Tim Slessor one of the original participants, took the same Land Rover and attempted the trip in reverse.

Quite an interesting mix of vehicles, the journey and the change the world has seen in the last 65 years.

I think you all would like it anyway. I will watch this and then find the original.

How many episodes /seasons in Shogun please? I am tempted but struggle with the format of episodes and season. I usually get bored (works with books too, see Herbert’s Dune saga where the first 2 were works of genius and the rest a serious disappointment until I didn’t even finish the 4th or 5th one) or frustrated because I don’t want them to explore every possible thread and want it to end so I can move on.

Currently at episode 9 of 10. It is a miniseries and no further plans for it apparently.

I like these miniseries because you really can't count on the structural fate of the main characters. If subsequent seasons are planned, then you know the main players will be there or just killed off because there are contractual conflicts. Nothing there in the developing narrative to make sense of it or allow suspense.

Been meaning to watch Shogun.

Fallout is entertaining - the same dark humor of the games, doesn't waste a lot of time with exposition just throws you in and builds a world.
