Run To The Hills :D

:tent: :camping: :dog:  :fire:

As well as being a most splendiferous song by Iron Maiden, :edbang:it would seem reasonable to "rebrand" BBORC especially as BB has ceased to be for some time now. Run to the hills seems a bit more descriptive (although there isnt much running) as there is somewhat less offroading occuring and more lounging around in the hills and great outdoors. With that in mind, a reminder of the 2023 dates and travel details.

25th September 2023- 29th September 2023 at Dodgson Wood Campsite

Dodgson Wood - 54.3218, -3.0794
Colton, High Nibthwaite, South Lakeland, Cumbria, England, LA12 8DF

Hi Andy, I sent you £20 on the 8th October, would that have been this deposit? I feel like I paid it but can't be sure?

Getting close guys, hopefully everyone is still up for it. We will need to square off the balance soon.

There is also a possibility I will miss the firat day due to working as a trade show the week before.

Aye it's all boxed out in my calendar, let us know about funds. We're lying to Sully about the day his birthday falls on so I can make it 😅

It‘s highly unlikely I’m going to make it, but I wish you all a cracking time. Obviously, if there’s a natural and comfortable gap in proceedings this end, I’ll run the van up for a couple of nights.

Any news from Mojo, the diamond geezer, FbD?
For the anecdote, I was sorting some camping stuff the other day and both wife and daughter couldn’t believe how excited Kanji was, tail wagging like mad and not leaving me throughout the process. It was quite funny.

Good luck with that! I’ve been waiting 7 years for one only recently to be told I’m inoperative!

Bit of a lottery then. I’ve had both mine done in the last 7 years. Too much tree work, carrying and dragging buggered them. @Fast but dim, all that ladder work and hauling hoses about is a similar range of movements.

To be fair there are other things going on. When my long term use of some decidedly ’iffy’ painkiller, DF118, indometacin (sp?) etc, turned various bits of my plumbing into wind instruments, I ‘died’ on the way to hospital. While the plumbers were were doing their best to keep all the wobbly bits contained I ‘died’ again. I had a very bad reaction to the anaesthetic and ended up on life support for ages. They got to the, ‘let’s get the family round and switch him off,’ stage when I refused to die! I was deemed inoperable as the options for the anaesthetist were very limited. A general is out of the question and the epidural is unreliable so the anaesthetist bailed out!

Couple this with all the other stuff that’s going on, pacemaker and buggered heart, both knees far worse than the hip and arthritis everywhere I was on a looser right from the start!

FBD, I wish you a rapid result with your replacement, down ‘ere it’s a day surgery job if there’s no other complications and recovery is super rapid.

That’s some adventure Juttle, glad your still above the turf!

I’m trying to put off having an ankle replacement, at present I’m not keen and apparently too young and too active. I have to manage myself nowadays, mentally quite annoying sometimes but at least I can still do things.
Arthritis elsewhere as well, most of it are signs of a misspent youth

I’m the other end of the chart at 74! To cap it all, one of my crutches decided to go off on its own and dumped me unceremoniously in the narrow bit between my van and a dustbin. Needless to say I landed on both knees and then slid under the van! Since last Monday I’ve been resident in my rise and recline with the only excursion being to limp and wobble to the loo, a distance of some 3 yards, which takes approx 30 minutes. I’m really not enjoying life at the moment but I’m sure it’ll get better, won’t it?

We could get Kev to visit you and regale you with his tales of daring do and various adventures if that will help.

Hi all, its payment time. Please can you all send me £50. The excess goes into the firewood fund.
Those who arent planning the whole week, but still want to visit for a night, or two can bring food and beer. :D :D
